Ceramics

So, three times over the course of the semester, we have a Friday morning Italian class...or at least that's what they told us. Today was the first of these three classes. It consisted of going together to a ceramics shop/studio and painting our own plates. I don't know about you guys but that doesn't sound like class to me, but I'm not complaining.

The particular method that they showed us, was actually much more difficult than it looked. I got a little bit frustrated, not knowing at all what I was doing, but it was still fun to experiment, and was certainly a fun way to spend a class period.

This is my plate after I finished painting. It will go in the kiln, and hopefully get shinier. I had to keep it super simple. I was way out of my league. As much as I've always loved art, I really can't draw and didn't know how to use the paints we were using. I think it came out decently given the situation though.

After this, Angela and I sat on the Campo for a few minutes. The day was beautiful and we wanted to take advantage. Then we decided to try out one of the restaurants on the campo...just for funsies. The food was decent but not incredible, but it was a cute place.

Isn't it cute? We went pretty early for Italian lunch...they usually wait until 1:00 or 1:30 so we pretty much had the place to ourselves, but I didn't have a problem with that.

I've had a quiet afternoon. I've had to remind myself that even though I'm abroad and feel like I should be exploring or adventuring at every moment, that it's ok to take an afternoon off...even in Italy.

Also...it was a gorgeous day. Check out that sky!
